The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail Is located mostly in Union County, IL Between Anna, IL and Carbondale, IL. The Wine Trail consist of 12 wineries with a couple more along the way that are not in the Association. All the Wineries are a few miles apart or about a 5 minute drive.  All the Wineries on the Shawnee Hills wine trail are different in their own way from all dry wines to all nonGrape wines. The Views from each of the wineries vary such as a grand landscape of orchards and vineyards to  emerged  among the trees of the Forest.


Southern Illinois Wines are produced with a variety of different grapes. Some of the more prominent grape varieties are Chambourcin, Traminette,Vignoles, Chardonel, Seyval, and Norton, as well as, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc.

Many people ask how long it takes to visit all the Wineries. The answer is 2-3 days depending on how long you want to take in the atmosphere at each winery.
